DGSOM Research Updates

We were notified by the UCLA Office of Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) that the new internal deadline for the Keck Science & Engineering Limited Submission Opportunity (LSO) is now Tuesday, November 25 at 11:59 pm. We wanted to share this information as soon as possible since the previous deadline was mid-December.

The Keck Foundation Research Program Grant is listed under Limited Submission Opportunities (LSOs) at https://ucla.infoready4.com/, so it is available to the public.

Details: The W. M. Keck Research Program seeks to benefit humanity by supporting projects in science and engineering that are distinctive and novel in their approach, question the prevailing paradigm, or have the potential to break open new territory in their field. Under the program, the Science & Engineering grants support projects that increase fundamental scientific knowledge and involve high-risk, high-reward, groundbreaking research that might not otherwise be supported through government agency funding.

Funding: Keck’s standard funding period is three years, with budgets not greater than $1.3 million. The most recent Science and Engineering awards ranged from $900,000 to $1,300,000. Note: Awards can reach up to $5 million for exceptionally groundbreaking projects. We strongly encourage discussing these larger funding requests with UCLA Foundation Relations staff.

Dates: The NEW internal deadline is 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 11/25/2025 given the timeline shift and Keck’s note that concepts submitted by UCLA by 12/15 are guaranteed a counseling call, a critical step in the external process. Kindly note that we expect selections to be made by Friday, 12/12. Selected PIs will have a short window to make edits to their submissions as they are due to the foundation on 12/15.

Questions: If you have questions regarding this opportunity or the internal application process, please email:  limitedsubmissions@conet.ucla.edu.
